Finishing Up

It's so hard to believe we only have 5 days left here in Costa Rica. It has been a time full of blessings, challenges, laughs, and good memories. Oh yeah, and learning Spanish. Some day we'll have to share the stories of the $4 flush (the time we were without water for 4 days!), and the time we got locked out of our house but locked inside the gate (for an hour with 3 kids and a house guest). But for now, we both have to study for our final tests tomorrow, pack up the house and say goodbye to new good friends and a good life we've had here in San Jose, Costa Rica. If you think about it, please pray for us. The next month will be full of transitions, and who really likes transitions?

Ex-pat Fourth of July

How to celebrate the fourth of July while living in a foreign county? Well, we were given the day off from school for starters. Then we found out that the American Embassy holds a 4th of July party for all Americans in CR. Admission? A US passport and $4. Actually, it turns out the Embassy doesn't hold it, they used to until it got too big. So now there is a committee that plans it, but the Ambassador gave the speech. It was so much bigger than we expected. Our $4 got us unlimited food, drinks, and entertainment. They had bagels (first ones we'd had in 6 months) coffee, hot dogs, drinks, TCBY yogurt, moon bounce for the kids, face painting, tatoos, sack races, water balloon toss.......So very American!!!!
